Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell is an American celebrity chef on television and former instructor at the Institute of Culinary Education. She hosts the Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef and the co-host of Worst Cooks in America. With her trademark spiky blond hair and her energised presence, Anne Burrell eliminates the intimidation of restaurant dishes and reveals straightforward, simple techniques to master to the home cook in her Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. Chef Burrell has also worked in some of New York's top restaurant chains, delved into Italian cuisine as well as its traditions. She also took part in Food Network Iron Chef America. Growing up in the Upstate region of New York Chef Burrell was attracted by the food. The Culinary Institute of America was the next step for her following graduation with A Bachelor of Arts in English and Communication from Canisius College Buffalo NY. She says "I thoroughly enjoyed my time as a Culinary Institute of America student. I thoroughly enjoyed each and every day." It was hard to study and do enough or put in the hours. After graduation, Burrell worked at La Bottega del 30 in Tuscany as well as La Taverna del Lupo (in Umbria) as she attended an Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners. The time she spent in Italy has helped her understand and appreciate Italian tradition and philosophy, and it has had an impression on her perception of food. Burrell was a member of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board which improves children who are facing challenges. She is also a Juvenile Diabetic Research Foundation celebrity ambassador, where she promotes the awareness of juvenile diabetes. As a guest speaker and mentor, she travels around the U.S. to share her love for cooking and career. Anne declared that she felt fortunate in that she could communicate her love of cooking to other people.
